European Regional Development Fund Grant - DRIVE
We are pleased to announce Simmonds Clockmaking Limited has been awarded a grant from the European Regional Development Fund, through the DRIVE program, to help fund the purchase of a Schaublin N - VM102 lathe to help with our latest project.
As can be seen from the pages of our website, the manufacture of mechanical clocks to our own design is something the company has carried out for a number of clients. These range from large bronze Armillary spheres and sun dial, to a set of 4 dial clocks, 3 skeleton clocks - 1 calendar version of the skeleton clock, an orrery, 2 large complex long case clocks, 3 grass hopper escapement mantle regulators, a calendar month running dial clock and 2 eight day seconds escapement wall regulators. The wall regulators are shown left.
Based on our experience we are expecting to manufacture a limited series of wall mounted regulators to our own design during 2023 and 2024. 2 Examples have been produced as bespoke clocks and are shown below as examples of finished clocks. The produced clock will feature a dead beat escapement with the time shown using a seconds, minute and hour hand. Whilst there will be an option for the inclusion of a calendar it will be of a different design to the bespoke clock shown.
