My career as a professional horologist began in 1983 as an apprentice. In 1994 I was examined by the British Horological Institute and awarded the professional membership status of M.B.H.I. You will also find me listed as a member of the British Watch and Clockmakers' Guild, an organisation dedicated to the Professional Horologist. In 2003 the National Trust approached me as they required an independent conservator in the East Anglian region, to carry out ongoing horological conservation work. Both my workshop and I were examined, making sure both met their stringent requirements.
The Suffolk Craft Society is an organisation known throughout the country for high quality contemporary art, and one I was very pleased to be elected to join in 2005. My work has also been exhibited at the Norfolk Furniture Makers exhibitions and featured in the Norfolk magazine. Other activities I enjoy are contributing to the local BBC radio station and lecturing to local societies and organisations on the subject of "The mechanical clock". Since forming my own company I have designed and manufactured 19 horological devices, ranging from month running astronomical long case clocks, to musical clocks, an orrery and various mantle clocks, through to large sun dials and armillary spheres. All are my own design - uniquely designed to incorporate my clients wishes. So my instruments are designed and fully made in England! Please go to recent commissions to view my work.
As a company we continue to carry on the traditions of professional clock repair and conservation, both to the general public, and to institutions such as the National Trust, and Norfolk Museums Services. |
