Orrery. These planetary devices have fascinated people for centuries. This instrument was made to show the movement of the Earth and moon in relation to the sun. It is housed in a hexagonal rosewood case, made especially for this piece. The time is displayed on a dial whose details are painted in oils to give a depth to the universe it depicts. It is necessary to wind the clock once every eight days. A key can be inserted to advance the orrery for display purposes. Please follow the link for images and information. |
Skeleton clock. This eight day duration clock follows a traditional style, having a recoil escapement, and a passing strike to sound the passing of the hour with a single blow on a cast bell. This clock was the first to feature my year calendar design. It is housed in an English walnut case, hand made by our cabinet maker especially for this clock. Please follow the link for two extra images and further information. |
Month running long case clock. Designed for a specific location this clock stands over eight foot six inches tall and operates for a month before requiring winding. Many details are shown on this wonderful clock, including the passage of the planet jupiter around the sun. The striking of the clock is sounded on two bells. The escapement is a grasshopper, and is inverted for this application. Every individual part of the movement and case is hand made, representing our skills in both clockwork and cabinet work.
